Even Technologies' PSI_V® Video Codec represents a significant leap in video codec development. The PSI_V® Video Codec is designed to mimic the way the human eye works: while other codecs utilize a block-based approach that involves taking sections of similar pixels and replacing them with a single, larger block, Even Technologies' patented Region-Based Encoding detects regions of interest and com­presses them in accordance with their importance and complexity -- just like the human eye does. The Region Based Encoding approach is a fundamental part of the Even Technologies patent portfolio.


The PSI_V® Video Codec is capable of delivering quality video streams at much lower bitrates than competing codecs:

  • standard definition video at 750kbps
  • high definition video at 3Mbps
  • full screen streaming video to the PC from 500kbps
  • video to the cell phone from 150kbps
Even at these unprecedented data rates, the PSI_V® outperforms all competing codecs in lab tests comparing peak signal-to-noise ratios. The PSI_V® is able to deliver high-quality video at remarkably low data rates. This technology has been built out into a suite of products, trade secrets and copyrighted materials to enable full solutions for video delivery.
